Filled with new ideas, knowledge and packed with enthusiasm the finalists of Greek Young Designers’ Competition departed from Kastoria having participated to the 2 days Info Fur Seminar, 16th and 17th of December, 2015.
It was the first time that Hellenic Association of Furriers along with the cooperation and support of NAFA fur auction house organized an informative seminar for the finalists of the Competition which is held each year within the framework of Fur Excellence in Athens, International Fur Fair.
The seminar aimed at introducing future Greek designers to the Fur City of Europe, Kastoria, familiarizing them with the Art of Fur. To make them love, appreciate and respect the magnificent material of fur through knowledge. Next phases of the competition were also to be clarified.
The participants were informed by NAFA’s Vice President of Business Relations Mr. Bob Poulios about the importance of fur skin quality, NAFA’s initiatives for promoting fur around the world and the opportunities that provides to international designers through the special catwalks and events that organizes. HAF’s associates Mrs. Aphrodite Zourla and Professor at Royal College of Art-London, Vasilis Kardasis, informed them about the importance of Greek Fur Industry and the various fur techniques developed at NAFA’s Fur Studio, focusing particularly to the broad spectrum of creativity that working with fur provides.
They had the unique opportunity to visit several fur factories and companies operating in the area where they got impressed by the numerous steps of production processes, the special working skills and the respect all involved in the fur business show when handling with fur.
Having faith to the talent of young people in Greece, Hellenic Association of Furriers will continue similar informative activities striving for the cooperation with designers’ schools in Greece to become closer and more efficient.
